Campo Alegre RPPN

This is one of the biggest RPPNs in the Brazilian Savannah and it is the biggest in Goiás. It has 7,500 hectares. It was created with the objective to develop preservation, conservation, and the maintainable usage of the area, according to the guidelines of Alto Paraíso Ecological Association. This private reserve also accomplishes a private proposal of conservation around PNCV – Parque Nacional da Chapada dos Veadeiros (Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park), starting the implementation of green corridors and the consolidation of Reserva da Biosfera Goiás e Bioma Cerrado (Goiás Biosphere Reserve and Savannah Biome).

The Region
The altitude savannah is the main kind of landscape In Chapada dos Veadeiros. This is a rare kind of aspect and it is part of only 1% of the Brazilian Savannah.
This area is characterized by a great number of endemic species and significant biodiversity adapted to climates of altitude and to very poor soil.
This region represents such great importance to the conservation of the Brazilian Savannah that Unesco recognized PNCV as a Natural Site of Worldwide Patrimony in 2002.
